Dead but not really

Read: 1 Chronicles 7-10.
1st Chronicles chapters 7-9 is basically history. But in chapter 10, another account is given of King Saul's death. Then this explanation is given: Saul died because he was unfaithful to the Lord. He did not keep the word of the Lord, and even consulted a medium for guidance, and did not inquire of the Lord.
13 and 14: The writer of this passage isn't merely talking about physical death, he's talking about spiritual death. Adam and Eve were also promised death if they ate from the tree. To them, it probably sounded like eating from the tree itself was going to cause them death. The serpent actually told them a half truth: they didn't die, from the tree. It was the act of disobeying God that killed them spiritually, and that is what happened to Saul: Him and Adam and Eve suffered the same fate: They died spiritually. It's interesting that the chronicler says that Saul didn't inquire of the Lord. Other accounts say that he did, but God didn't answer him. Obviously God is not at fault, so why the discrepancy? Was there something wrong with Saul's inquiring of the Lord? Was he doing it wrong? I hope I am not doing it wrong. I need to remember that if God doesn't seem to be answering me, then I need to look harder for His answers, and reexamine myself. But the blame does not fall on God's shoulders. If even we feel empty and dry, and spiritually all tapped out, we should examine ourselves- because that's where we're most likely to find the fault.

Burdens and baskets

Psalm 81
6: He says, I removed the burden from their shoulders, their hands were set free from the basket. Basket? Carrying what? A different burden?
7. In our distress we called, and He rescued us. 10. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.
Psalm 88
1. The psalmist still acknowledges God as the one who saves him. He feels alienated.
Psalm 81:6 I wondered what basket meant, but Matthew Henry explained that it referred to the bricks that they carried in baskets. This also can apply to us. The wages of sin is death, and if we're set free from the burden on our shoulders and the basket in our hand, then we are free from all this, the bondage of sin. Our burdens are taken from us and nailed to the cross. Physically and spiritually I look at my hands and find no callouses, and feel my shoulders, and find no bruises.

What a thing to rejoice in.

My other thought with the basket idea, is that even though we may willingly give up the burden on our shoulders, we may not be so eager to give up what's in our basket. Perhaps we decide that we want to hold onto it, even though it may cause us harm. But God wants to remove our burden, and our basket, and then He says to us: Open wide your mouth, and I will fill it.

what happen to our brains

Below are four (4) questions and a bonus question. You have to answer them instantly. You can't take your time, answer all of them immediately. OK? Let's find out just how clever you really are.
Ready? GO!!! (scroll down)

First Question:
You are participating in a race. You overtake the second person. What position are you in?
Answer: If you answered that you are first, then you are absolutely wrong! If you overtake the second person and you take his place, you are second! Try not to mess it up in the next question.
To answer the second question, don't take as much time as you took for the first question.

Second Question:
If you overtake the last person, then you are...?
Answer: If you answered that you are second to last, then you are wrong again. Tell me, how can you overtake the LAST Person?

Third Question:
Very tricky math! Note: This must be done in your head only. Do NOT use paper and pencil or a calculator. Try it. Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000. Now add 30. Add another 1000. Now add 20.
Now add another 1000 Now add 10. What is the total?
Scroll down for answer.
Did you get 5000?

The correct answer is actually 4100.
Don't believe it? Check with your calculator!

Fourth Question:
Mary's father has five daughters: 1. Nana, 2. Nene, 3. Nini, 4. Nono.
What is the name of the fifth daughter?

Answer: Nunu?
NO! Of course not.Her name is Mary. Read the question again
Okay, now the bonus round:

There is a mute person who wants to buy a toothbrush. By imitating the action of brushing one's teeth he successfully expresses himself to the shopkeeper and the purchase is done.
Now if there is a blind man who wishes to buy a pair of sunglasses, how should he express himself?

He just has to open his mouth and ask, so simple.

This wasn't to make you look like a idiot, but to see how much you pay attention. In todays world people are moving so fast that they aren't seeing what is right in front of them. How many times have you read the bible and then gone back and it was totally diferent. I know it was for me. Just think it over, and look at your life. And try to slow down alittle.

worms and sledgehammers

Things have taken a downturn. I have found that my attitude can be very offensive to some people, namely the teachers that I have been observing with. I left Dimmick on what I thought were good terms to try Northbrook because of the different program. After three and a half hours of being there the principal called me on my cell phone at about four thirty in the afternoon telling not to come back there again. The reasons that she gave were not very good ones, and they were all things that were previously worked out with the teacher that I observed with that day. So, I decided to call Dimmick again and see about going back there, and the teacher was quoted by the principal as 'she would rather not'  have me observe there again. I also received my midterm eval from her yesterday in the mail, because the teacher didn't have the time to fill it out in front of me while I was there; so she mailed it. One of the comments that she wrote was "Mr. Moore seems to have difficulty collaborating with other adults in the classroom setting." Which, being that she was the only adult, it must have meant that I wasn't being very cooperative with her. It's hard to explain. But yesterday was a hard one to get through, because I had the rather not phone call as well as the evaluation. One of the things that Ed brought up yesterday was how God has tried to get my attention on my arrogance (I told him that other people use that word to describe me, he wasn't the first to say it) and now with this whole thing, it's like God used a sledgehammer. So I asked the question, jokingly, 'If God was all-powerful, could He make a sledgehammer so big that even He Himself could not hit Eric Moore with it?"

Which brings me to this morning. I woke up at 5:50 a.m., right on the dot, because I needed to use the restroom. So I go downstairs and go to the bathroom. And wouldn't you know it, I climbed right back into bed because I was cold and one of my nostrils was clogged so I was going to lay with it on top to clear it up. I didn't get up until probably quarter or so until 8. The force of habit is extemely powerful. I thought to myself today, God really opened up a can of worms when He commanded us to be holy. Obviously God likes worms, but I wonder how big the can is. Maybe the sledgehammer He has can help out with this situation.

Today I feel overwhelmed and discouraged. This isn't the first time that I've been made aware of my attitude problem, but this is one of the hardest things that's resulted from it.

I need to go now, because I have to study for quiz tonight, but more importantly, I need to turn things over to God. I'm lazy, stubborn, arrogant, rebellious, and I'm tired of carrying that weight on my shoulders.
