Prayer Requests:
  • Lisa and Jeremy's mom needs prayer. She has a chipped shoulder and needs to have physical therapy for it. After she recieves some physical therapy she is going to get an MRI taken of her shoulder to help determine if she is going to need surgery. Because of doctor's orders, she will be off of work.
  • Pat and Amy's daughter Rebecca needs prayer. Friday night/early Saturday morning Rebecca was take to the hospital in Rockford because she was not breahing and was cyanotic. This had happened before and she was taken to a nearby hospital. However, the doctors did not know the cause of it and gave Pat and Amy material to read if it were to happen again. Right now Rebecca is being treated at the hospital in Rockford. Please also keep Pat and Amy in your prayers because this is a very stressful and emotional time for them.
  • Amy (same person as listed above) and Amanda's Grandma Noble and Grandpa Clark. Their Grandma Noble is in the hospital for ovarian cancer and their Grandpa Clark is also in the hospital because he is having problems with his lungs.
  • Ashley and Britney's mom needs prayer for her health. Their dad also needs prayer, along with his family. Also, Ashley's friends mom needs prayer. (No specifics were mentioned.)
  • Hope's mom needs prayer for her ruptured disk. Her mom is also having legal and health problems. Please pray for God's perfect timing for when these things are to happen.
  • Lisa and Jeremy's brother Eric needs prayer. (No specifics were mentioned.)
  • Todd is moving to Palatine on February 4th. Please pray for God's protection over him while he is away. Also pray for strength and guidance.
  • I (Becca) need prayer for guidance and direction. God has been showing me things lately and I just need Him to guide me onto the right path that He wants me to travel. Please pray that God would give me direction and help me become aware of doors that are open, and also pray that He would take my hand and guide me onto the path that He wants me to take, so that I will be following His will and not my own.

Praises:

  • Lisa's friend Gwen came to youth group.
  • Jeremy's friends and family helped fix his car.
  • Eric's retreat went well over the past weekend. God used him more than Eric had planned on. One of the verses that was used for this retreat was John 15:5, which says, "Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing."

Famous questions from Ed:

Praises and Requests

Pray that I am able to manage my time effectively for the lesson on Sunday. The weekend I will be gone on a retreat with another church to help with the music. Pray that God will use my gifts for his glory and that I will minister out to others the way that He wants me too.

Verses of Encouragement

1 Peter 1:6 - 9

6. So be truly glad! There is wonderful joy ahead, even though it is necessary for you to endure many trials for a while.
7. These trials are only to test your faith, to show that it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold – and your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold. So if your faith remains strong after being tried by fiery trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
8. You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him, you trust him; and even now you are happy with a glorious, inexpressible joy.
9. Your reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.
